A different kind of space · Porch Light

When connection needs a gentler approach.

When family ties feel fragile, sometimes you need a slower, softer way to reach out. Porch Light starts with an invitation the recipient can accept or decline, with controls for message frequency, length and topics.

An option, not an obligation. Channels can be paused. Porch Light is a communication tool, not therapy, and does not promise reconciliation. The current private channel requires the Estate plan.

The Estrangement Epidemic

More families are disconnected than ever before. In a world of constant communication, silence can feel unbearable—and yet, reaching out can feel dangerous.

Porch Light was built for this moment: a small, guided bridge inside Family Porch where two people can safely reconnect without reopening old wounds.

"Not every relationship is ready for reunion. Porch Light creates a space for respect, small steps, and hope."

How Porch Light Works

1

A gentle invitation

From inside Family Porch, one family member can tap Porch Light on someone's profile to open a safe-channel request. The other person receives a neutral invite:

"Someone in your family would like to reconnect—at your pace."

They can accept, decline, or set limits first.

2

The protector decides the boundaries

The recipient—the protecting member—controls:

  • How often they can receive messages
  • How long messages can be
  • Which topics are off-limits
  • Whether emergencies are allowed

No one else can override these settings.

3

Messages are short, guided, and kind

When the reaching member writes, Porch Light helps them keep messages brief, loving, and safe—removing blame or sensitive triggers automatically.

"Thinking of you today. No pressure to reply."

Every message goes through a tone and length check before sending.

4

Quiet confirmation

The recipient sees the message when they're ready. They can tap "Not ready" or "Read", without pressure to respond. Both sides know where things stand—without confrontation.

5

Family-safe updates (Stage 2)

Even when direct contact is limited, the distant member can still see porch-safe family posts—birthdays, weddings, or news that aren't emotionally charged. It's a way to stay connected to family life without being pulled into drama.

Why We Built This

For every family who's ever said:

"I want to reach out—but I don't want to make it worse."

"I need to know they're safe, but I can't handle big messages."

"I wish there were a way to reconnect without opening old wounds."

Porch Light isn't about fixing what's broken. It's about keeping the door of kindness open—without pressure, guilt, or exposure.
